Spring is here, and that means it's time for the annual Montpelier Festival of Herbs, Tea, and the Arts. Hosted by the Montpelier House Museum and Montpelier Arts Center, the family-friendly event is the perfect opportunity to connect with the region’s beauty, nature, and history. The event will run from 10 am to 4 pm.
The historic home, which was built in the 1780s, was once home to the Snowdens, plantation and ironworks owners and the 169 people they enslaved. The museum showcases the histories of all who lived there through its tours, public programs, and festivals. It features 18th-century Georgian architecture, a blooming flower and herb garden, and an 18th-century summer house sitting on its original foundation.
At the festival, you’ll get to listen to live music in the on-site tent, attend an educational and inspiring talk on gardening, and tour this historic museum. You can also turn the event into a picnic by booking a Picnic Tea Box ahead of time. You’ll get finger sandwiches, pastries, and a scone to enjoy outside on the blossoming grounds.
When you visit the Arts Center during the event, you’ll be able to enjoy the exhibits, visit the artists’ studios, watch artistic demonstrations, and attend a live performance.
